Many ClickUp users encounter a recurring issue when utilizing task automation, particularly when they attempt to streamline their workflow efficiencies across various projects or departments. The absence of an ability to automatically establish relationships between an automated task and the task that triggered it results in a time-consuming process that requires manual intervention. This limitation impedes workflows, especially for users who rely on a visual and functional link to understand task dependencies and project hierarchies. Enabling this capability could significantly enhance productivity by reducing manual setups and providing clear, immediate insights into task relationships.

  • Relationship Visibility and Management:
    The extension should provide an interface or enhancement that allows users to easily manage and view existing relationships directly from the task view. This could include enhanced visual indicators or a dedicated panel that summarizes task relationships.
  • Copy Watchers from Original to New Task:
    When a new task is created through automation, it should inherit all watchers from the original task. This feature ensures that all relevant team members stay informed about both the trigger and the resultant tasks without additional manual setup.
  • Automatic Relationship Linking Between Tasks:
    The extension should automatically create a relationship link between the task that triggered the automation and the new task that was created. This should apply to all automations where one task results in the creation of another, ensuring users can immediately see and manage task dependencies.
  • Configurable Relationship Types in Automation Settings:
    Users should be able to specify the type of relationship (e.g., blocking, waiting on, duplicates) within the automation setup. This customization allows for more precise project and task management, catering to the specific needs of different teams and projects.
