Enhanced Custom Task ID Configuration

Many ClickUp users struggle with the current implementation of task ID labeling, which is limited to only the space level within the platform. Users from various industries, including development, project management, and IT, have expressed the need to customize task IDs at more granular levels such as workspaces, folders, and lists to better align with their organizational needs. The ability to assign unique IDs based on specific hierarchies such as projects or departments would greatly enhance their workflow and integration capabilities with other tools. Users also encounter issues with the minimum character requirement for prefixes, which adds to their frustrations and limits usability.

  • Flexible Prefix Length:
    Remove the current restriction requiring a minimum of three characters for task ID prefixes. Allowing shorter prefixes, such as 'IT' or 'SD', will enable users to match their internal abbreviations and streamline task references more efficiently.
  • Customizable Task ID Levels:
    Allow users to set custom task IDs not only at the space level but also at the workspace, folder, and list levels. This adaptability would enable ClickUp users to maintain better organization and coherence across varied projects and teams.
  • Concatenate Fields for Custom Task IDs:
    Implement the ability to concatenate other field values into task IDs for highly customizable and descriptive identifiers. This could follow the syntax similar to '=CONCATENATE(field1, field2,), allowing users to generate meaningful IDs that could incorporate client abbreviations, dates, or any other relevant task information.
