Hive users are currently facing challenges in navigating through extensive project data efficiently due to the inability to freeze or hide columns, lack of auto-sum for number columns, and limited column formatting options in the Project Navigator. These limitations hinder the user experience, especially for those managing large amounts of projects with numerous custom fields. The flexibility to pin essential columns like the project name while scrolling or to hide unnecessary columns, coupled with enhanced formatting and summation functions, would significantly streamline workflow and data viewing. Implementing these features would parallel certain functionalities found in spreadsheet tools such as Excel, which many Hive users are already familiar with and value for their data management.

  • Hide Columns:
    Implement functionality for Hive users to selectively hide columns in the Project Navigator. This would be beneficial for users who need to simplify their view and focus on specific aspects of the project data without permanent adjustments.
  • Freeze Columns:
    Allow Hive users to freeze specific columns in the Project Navigator so that they remain visible while scrolling horizontally. This feature is crucial for maintaining a reference point, particularly for the project name or key attributes.
  • Advanced Column Formatting:
    Allow users to format number columns in the Project Navigator with options like currency, percentages, or custom formats. This adapt ivity would help in standardizing data presentation and make it easier for Hive users to interpret various numerical data accurately.
  • Auto-Sum for Number Columns:
    Enable the ability to multi-select rows in the Project Navigator and automatically sum numeric values in specific columns. This would aid in quick calculations and assessments, enhancing productivity for Hive users who manage financial or quantifiable data within projects.
